CHARACTERS

There is a far-off land called "Pennsylvania." And somewhere in this utterly dark and terrifying place, it is said there sits a magnificent granite peak. Its name: Mount Savage. Now, on the very, very tippy top of this Mount Savage lurching over a small burg of the same name, it is also said there exists a haunted castle that has stood there for as long as anyone can recall. According to the legend, inside of this castle, there lives a brood of monsters who all mix and mingle together under the same roof, sharing rent and the occasional meal. This hodgepodge of a vampire, a witch, a werewolf, a mummy and a Frankenstein are said to keep to themselves mostly, and seem to enjoy as little contact as possible with regular folk.

Except for one particular young boy.

His name is Dave. Or rather, Spook House Dave, and he's about as average and normal of a 12-year-old kid as you can hope to find. Except, for the past dozen years, he's been raised in the castle. By the monsters. It all began when baby Dave was left on their doorstep with a note that read, "Please take care of baby Dave." Under normal circumstances, monsters would never pay attention to such a request. They might even be more interested in the basket rather than the human infant inside of it. But there was one word in the note that changed everything: "please." Why did they have to use the magic word? No monster – big or small, scary or not at all – can refuse any request that uses the word "please." That's why monsters never say it. Ever. But it just so happened the note pinned to baby Dave's blanket that cold and stormy night did. And so, ever since, the monsters have been bringing him up the best they can. Sure, most of the time, they don't get it. But they try.
